Wilfredo Leon officially joined the Poland national team training

Former Cuban Player, CEV Champion and Club World Champion, Wilfredo Leon was invited by Poland head coach and officially joined the Poland national team training and started preparation for the World Championship.

Wilfredo Leon was born in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba. He was a member of Cuba men’s national volleyball team in 2007–2012 and had helped the team to be the NORCECA Champion in 2009, and 2011. Leon lived in Poland for a while with his Polish girlfriend. On July 14, 2015 he received Polish citizenship and expressed his desire to play in the Polish national team. On June 24, 2016 he married to his Polish girlfriend Małgorzata Gronkowska. In 2018, FIVB approved his transition of sport nationality, and he will be able to represent Poland in 2019.

Leon wrote on his Instagram eariler today: ” I had a pleasure to be a part of the volleyball National Team of Poland during the first days of preparations to World Championship 2018. I felt great training and getting to know all the guys. Big thanks for inviting me to Zakopane (Poland’s training centre). See you next year, I hope! And good luck to the National Team in WCH 2018.” With help of the Cuban powerhouse, Poland will be one of the favorite team in World Championship 2018. Let’s see how Leon empower his team.
