By the decision of the Directorate for the holding of the competitions of the Russian Volleyball Federation, the “Final Four” of the Russian Cup among women’s teams in memory of Givi Akhvlediani was appointed to the city of Kazan. The composition of the semi-final pairs was determined by lot.

Since 2009, the Russian Cup among women’s teams has been dedicated to the memory of Givi Ahvlediani (1918-2003), the famous Soviet and Russian coach. He led the women’s national team of the USSR to the “gold” of the 1968 Olympic Games, 1972, the title of world champion 1970, the winner of the 1973 World Cup and the European champion 1967, 1971, 1975. Under Ahvlediani, the men’s national team won the world championships in 1960, 1962.
