Russia girl’s team overpowered Italy in three sets to win the gold medal match at the 2021 FIVB Girls’ U18 World Championship in Durango, Mexico.
It was Russia’s third gold medal in the history of the event, putting an end to a 28 year drought since the last time they won in 1993; their first was in 1989. For Italy, it was their fourth medal in a row; they won silver in 2019 and gold in the 2017 and 2015 editions.
In the final match, Russia won in straight sets 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-20).
