2012 London Olympic bronze medalist, Japanese player Risa Shinnabe officially announced her retirement in a Press Conference today.
At first, she decided to retire after the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. However the Olympics were postponed due to COVID19 and she was despaired.
Shinnabe said in the press conference: “I had a finger surgery in April. I don’t know if I can play well as before. I decided to retire because I’m not satisfy with my performance now.”

For the future, she signed a management contract with Hisamitsu’s team management company.
