Week 4 of VNL continues with many exciting matches and brilliant performance of new young players!! As we introduced before, Arina Fedorosteva from Russia and Ran Takahashi from Japan keep going on with their outstanding performance in VNL. This time we would like to introduce another young player to you- Rok Mozic from Slovenia!!
Rok Mozic aged only 19 and made his debut with the Slovenia national team just last year at the European qualifiers for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, but he’s already getting established on the team at the 2021 FIVB Men’s Volleyball Nations League.
Last week, in the match Slovenia against France, Rok was the top scorer of the match with 20 points and helped team Slovenia defeated France in 3-2!!
After the match, Rok said: “I’m very happy to be part of this team! When I was young, these guys [I’m playing with now] were my idols. Everyday I say that I’m lucky to be part of this team here and that I can play with these guys and now I have had a chance to be on the court. I really enjoy being at this tournament.”
This boy’s dream comes true!
Rok’s father and mother play volleyball too, both of his parents were top players and competed with the national teams of Yugoslavia and then Slovenia. So it seemed to be a logical choice for Rok to play volleyball. He even started to play volleyball once he began to walk! Since Rok’s father was a coach of junior selections at clubs and schools, so it was an obvious solution as every day he could go for training sessions with his father. And that makes him starts his journey to be a professional volleyball player.
Slovenia now ranked No.4 in the VNL, let’s see how Rok Mozic creates waves at the rest of the games!
