Russian Women’s volleyball Legendary, two times world champion Lyubov Sokolova is back on the court! Sokolova announced her retirement in 2016 and then got married and gave birth of her second son, but surprised everyone at the end of 2017 with her return. The player signed a contract with Russian Superleague club Dinamo Krasnodar, the last club for which she played.
Sokolova had a discreet debut yesterday 12 Dec in Krasnodar’s match against Austrian UVC Holding Graz for the CEV Challenge Cup. Sokolova played in the second and third set to help with the reception of her team. Dinamo Kransodar end up with a 3-2 victory.
Sokolova played an important role in supporting the team in the absent of experienced captain Maria Perepelkina due to injury. It is expected that the 40-year-old Russian legend will play for the whole season with the team.
