Kim Yeon Koung’s retirement all stars match start this weekend

Former captain of the South Korean women’s volleyball team, Kim Yeon-koung, announced in April that a national team retirement ceremony, “KYK Invitational 2024,” will be held this month.

A press conference was held today (7th) at the Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium in Seoul. The most important part of the retirement ceremony will be an all-star game among domestic players in South Korea on the 8th, as well as a game on the 9th between South Korean all-stars and world all-stars.

Former national team teammates who competed alongside Kim Yeon-koung in the Olympics, such as Han Song-yi, Yang Hyo-jin, and Kim Su-ji, will participate in the all-star game.

Star foreign players invited include Sheilla and Natalia from the Brazilian women’s volleyball team, Pleumjit from Thailand, Goncharova from Russia, Nagaoka Miyu and Inoue Kotone from Japan.

The coaches invited include Kim Yeon-koung’s former coaches from Fenerbahce and Hyundai E&M, Italian coach Marcello Abbondanza and former South Korean women’s volleyball assistant coach Cesar Hernandez Gonzalez.
