Japanese women’s team released 12 players list for Tokyo Olympic

Tokyo Olympic women’s volleyball game will be held from July 25 to August 8. Host country Japan has released the 12 players list of women’s team.

Young players including Mai Okumura, Mako Kobata, Sarina Koga, Ai Kurogo, Kotona Hayashi, Nichika Yamada, Mayu Ishikawa, and Aki Momi will be playing their first Olympic game. While Kanami Tashiro, Yuki Ishii, and Haruyo Shimamura have been represented Japan for the second consecutive tournament following the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games.

Captain Erika Araki is the most experienced player who will be participating in her four consecutive tournaments since the 2008 Beijing Olympic.

The qualifying round will start on July 25, starting with the match Japan against Kenya on the first day of the tournament. Japan will face Serbia, Brazil, South Korea, and the Dominican Republic in the qualifying round. Top four teams will qualify to second round.
