Japan and Thailand advanced to the Final of Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship

Manila, Philippines, August 16, 2017 – Thailand crushed the unbeaten Korea and Japan swept away the young Chinese team in the semifinal of  19th Asian Senior Women’s Volleyball Championship at the Alonte Sports Arena on Wednesday.

Both Japan and Thailand defeated their opponents in straight sets 3-0. In the first semifinals match, Japan outplayed the young Chinese team in 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-18). Wing spikers Shinnabe and Nomoto both scored 13 points, captain Iwasaka also contributed 12 points and led the team to the final.

The second match was a battle between Thailand and Korea. Korea captain Kim Yeon Koung was the top scorer among two team, she scored 21 points but still cannot help her team to clinch the victory. Thailand crushed  Korea in 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-21) and got another seat of the final.

Both finalists, Japan and Thailand have won the Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship in history. Japan has won three times while Thailand won twice. Will Thailand win the title this year and equalizing a record? Wait and see!!
