Imoco crowned as 2024 Club World Champions

Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano climbed back up to the top of the world! After winning the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship in 2019 and in 2022, the Panthers from Italy triumphed at the 2024 edition in Hangzhou that came to a conclusion on Sunday to collect their third world title in history in four appearances at the competition.

This year, the silver medal went to hosts Tianjin Bohai Bank, marking the best result for any Chinese club in the Club World Championships. Tianjin’s previous best was last year’s bronze. Another Italian team, newcomers Numia Vero Volley Milan, took home the bronze medal.

In front of over 6,000 fans at the Huanglong Sports Center in Hangzhou, Imoco dominated the final against Tianjin, winning 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-20). Swedish star Isabelle Haak led the team with an impressive 25 points, including 19 kills, three aces, and three blocks. Teammate Sarah Fahr contributed four blocks and one ace for a total of 11 points. Imoco’s Zhu Ting scored 14 points, while Gabriela Guimaraes added 10. Tianjin’s top scorers were Wang Yizhu with 13 points and Li Yingying with 12.

Earlier in the day, Numia Vero Volley Milan secured a bronze medal in their championship debut by defeating Brazil’s Dentil Praia Clube Uberlandia, who finished fourth for the second consecutive time.
