Dutch Captain Maret Balkestein-Grothues to play in Polish League for Chemist Police

Playing for Fenerbahçe Istanbul in last season, captain of the Netherlands, Grothues helped the club to achieve good results in Turkish Cup and League, considered by many to be the best in the world. With all these credentials, she has been offered with a contract by Chemist Police, which is undergoing a team rejuvenation according to President, Paweł Frankowski.

Also joining the Polish club include the 22-year-old Serbian Bianka Busa and 25-year-old Natalia Mędrzyk who played for another local club olski Cukier Fakro MUSZYNA.

Accordingly, the 180 cm tall Grothuses will play as wing spiker and is one of the three left handed players in the new club. The managing director of the club stated that it is one of the key positions of the team to perform reception.
“Before signing the contract I had the comfort that I was playing against the Chemist and I had met this club two seasons ago. By the way, we have not managed to win one match then (laughs). I know how reputable the club is, how strong the staff team is. I also talked with my friends on this band. Everybody emphasized professionalism in the daily operation, which is important to me. I wanted to play in the national championship team and in the Champions League. I am proud that I signed a contract with Police, “says Grothuses.

Balkestein-Grothues is regularly called to represent the Netherlands, with which she won two silver medals of the European Championship. In the club career, in addition to the mentioned successes in Turkey, she also won 2 French championships and 2 championship Netherlands.
