Drussyla Costa suffers fracture in hand and is out of the Volleyball Nations League

Bad news for the Brazilian team: Outside hitter Drussyla Costa’s head has suffered an impacted fracture at the base of the fifth metacarpal of the right hand caused by a trauma and will miss the rest of FIVB Volleyball Nations League. Drussyla was injured during the game against Russia when she received a powerful jump serve by Irina Voronkova in the 5th set.  Drussyla has returned to Brazil on Saturday.

The doctor of the women’s volleyball team, Júlio Nardelli, commented on the player’s injury and spoke of the expectation of Drussyla’s return to the courts.
“She had a direct hand injury in the game against Russia. Yesterday we did a x-ray and detected an impacted fracture at the base of the fifth metacarpal of the right hand. This is a good prognosis fracture. She will remain in physiotherapeutic treatment. We decided to send Drussyla to return to Brazil. Thus, it will not go through long journeys and may have a faster recovery. The expectation is that she can returns to the court around four weeks, “explained Julio Nardelli.
