Caprara takes the helm of national team of the Netherlands

After disappointing results, Italian coach Giovanni Caprara has replaced Jamie Morrison becoming the new head coach

Italian Caprara with the top mission of leading the team to the Olympics, presented by the national volleyball association.

In the interview , Joop Alberda, the technical director of the volleyball association, explained the decision of such act. “If confidence slips away, the end comes closer.”

The Orange squad lost the decisive game in the Olympic qualifying tournament against host country Italy and stuck in the European Championship in the quarterfinals.

The Orange squad has one last chance to qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.  In January the team will compete at the OKT in Apeldoorn with Bulgaria, Turkey, Germany, Poland, Croatia, Belgium and Azerbaijan for one ticket.Caprara (56) is coach of the Italian Il Bisonte Firenze, which international players Laura Dijkema and Nika Daalderop are playing for. He last worked as coach of Azerbaijan in theEuropean Championship. Last but not least, he once led team Russia to clinch the historic World Championship title in 2006 with the unbeatable trio players Sokolova, Gamova and Godina.
