Brazil clinched first victory in the friendly match with Poland

The Brazilian women’s volleyball team clinched their victory in the first friendly match of preparation for the World Grand Prix 2017. On Tuesday 27th June, Brazil overcame Poland by 3 sets (25-16, 25-12, 25-23) in the gymnasium of the Mineirinho, Belo Horizonte with 4,508 local fan’s support.

Brazilian and Polish played another set at the end of the match and Brazil won 25-14.

On Thursday 29th June, the team of coach José Roberto Guimarães will again face Poland in São Paulo. The second friendly match between two teams will take place at 9:30 p.m. in Ibirapuera and will be broadcast by SporTV 2 and Rede TV.

Brazilian outside spiker, Natalia was the highest scorer among the Brazilian with 15 points,  while opposite spiker Tandara scored 13 points. Poland outside spiker Smarzek scored 17 points which is the  highest among two teams .

“It’s always good to get out of a match with an even more victory playing in Brazil. We know we still have a lot to improve, but we are on the right track. Our preparation has been strong for the Grand Prix and we can see an improvement in the team since Montreux. Today the team is more involved and this friendly match will help us to improve even more as a team, “said Natalia.

Coach José Roberto Guimarães made an analysis of the match and the performance of Brazil.

“These friendly games serve to give us information about where we need to improve. Poland arrived yesterday and is still suffering with jet lag. I think they will give more work in the friendly in São Paulo. We still need to adjust some things. We do not have a high team and we need to speed up. Today I liked the timing of the block with the defense and also the adjustment of our pass. We also managed to be precise in the service, “said José Roberto Guimarães.

The first stage of the World Grand Prix for Brazil will be played from July 7 to 9 in Ankara, Turkey, and Brazil will play against Belgium, Serbia and Turkey. The debut of the Brazilians will be on July 7, at 13:30 (Brasilia time) against Belgium.
