FIVB World Grand Prix has entered into white heat stage and final round match day begins tomorrow. Six finalists will be competing in round robin in two pools. Serbia in Pool K will play against USA and Italy in the coming two match days. (Other side, Pool J comprises host China, Brazil and the Netherlands). Before the derby match against USA, Head coach and key players from team Serbia have received an interview from media RTS.
Head Coach: Zolan Terzic
“We have our own strengths, certainly I think we are stronger in attacking and blocking, we hope we can win if we are close to the other elements. The match is important, but not crucial, it would still be nice to start with victory.”
“We expect a tough game, similar to the Olympic Games, regardless of the fact that the teams have changed, the system is the same. The Americans are known for their quick play, good defense and a small number of mistakes.”
Captain: Milena Rasic
“We have enough time to get ready for America that plays very fast. We hope for the best, I believe we are in very good shape and we will see what will be.”
Wing Spiker: Brankica Mihajlovic
“The composition of team USA will be different, but their game system has remained the same, nothing has changed significantly. We need to get motivated and focused on what we need to do. We were saved enough.”
Opposite Spiker: Tijana Boskovic
“I think we are favorites against the United States because we have almost the same team, and the opponent has changed composition. However, they will not give up and play the maximum, we will try to stop them.”
The women’s national team of Serbia will start the Grand Prix tournament in Nanjing on Wednesday at 9.00 am against the USA.
