Argentina, Brazil, France and ROC (Russia) will eased their way to Tokyo Olympic men’s volleyball semifinals!

ROC (Russia) and Brazil secured the first two spots in the semifinals of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 at Ariake Arena this morning, both defeating their opponents in straight-set victories in their respective quarterfinal encounters.

Russia advanced to the next round in impressive fashion by way of a sweep of North American opponents Canada 3-0 (25-21, 30-28, 25-22). While reigning Olympic champions Brazil reached the final four for the fifth consecutive time, following their tough 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-20) triumph over Olympic hosts Japan.

Later this evening, Argentina and France completed the semifinal cast of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 with their five-set victories in the quarterfinals.

Argentina prevailed 3-2 (21-25, 25-23, 25-22, 14-25, 15-12) against Rio 2016 silver medallists Italy to make a return in an Olympic final four after 21 years since their nation made their last semifinal appearance at Sydney 2000. The South American team won their only Olympic bronze medal at Seoul 1988.

France reach its first ever Olympic semifinal with a 3-2 (21-25, 25-22, 21-25, 25-21, 15-9) win over world champions Poland.

The Semifinals will be scheduled on 5th of August.
